France

Producer Information

Claret and its ilk have long been deemed to be the perfect match for Lamb, due to the cool-on-the-palate nature of Cabernet Sauvignon that cuts through the gentle fattiness of spring lamb. So, here is our Spring suggestion of Clarets and Claret-like reds to start the season off.

1 bottle of each of the following wines

Château Bonneau 2016 Montagne St Emilion

Crunchy merlot – dominated wine with bright Hedgerow fruit , soft tannins and with good weight and length.

Le Moulin D’Abbaye 2019 Bordeaux

Very smooth with soft brambly fruit and ripe tannins. Typical easy drinking claret

Château Canon la Foret 2017 Bordeaux Superieure

Lovely smooth ripe full flavoured style. Nice balance of fruit with good length

Château Viaud Lalande 2017 Lalande de Pomerol

Ripe, well balanced Merlot from this tiny estate adjacent to Pomerol

Merlot 2018 Montagnac Pays D’Oc

Super – smooth expressive version of this popular grape variety

Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 Monastier Pays D’Oc

Ripe, full bodied fruity-almost New World-style. Rich and soft on the finish. A full bodied wine to go with food.
